Saturday Scraplift (no. 47)

I love this striking page by Brenda:
image

Such an explosion of prettiness against that striking black background. I especially love how she used Anna’s Magic Sparkles, and Katie’s new vintage frames look great with the black in a way that stark white frames would not. The beauty of a black background is that it carries such weight itself that it can balance an assymetrical design like this.

Here is what Brenda’s page inspired:

Saturday Scraplift (No. 46)

Did you see this layout by Elena (inspired by a layout by Jodie) in the gallery? I love those colors on the clean white background and the scattering of buttons and paint spatters. And did you see the great detail of Katie’s messy stitching? But what I really love about this is how it extends the photo into the white background by perfectly matching the colors of the paint and buttons. As Elena says, the pattern behind cute Zoe is not patterned paper but a bedspread - but the great photo treatment makes it pop so beautifully. Maybe if your background was not so great you could try extracting the photo subject and placing it on a background of patterned paper to get the same effect.

It is a great example of how to integrate the photo seamlessly into the design of the page (and the perfect color matching is a big part of that).

Here’s what the layout inspired:

Saturday Scraplift (No. 45)

What a wonderful response to last week’s great layout by Heather. It was fantastic to see all the different interpretations in the gallery.

We have another fantastic layout for you this week - this time by Adryane:

image

Isn’t it great? I love the soft, neutral colors and what really makes the page for me are the graphic touches such as the white circles and lines, and the stitching. And of course that raindrop! I love seeing elements and text used small but perfectly placed like this. Often an element or journaling will have MORE impact used small.

Here’s what Adryane’s layout inspired:

image
Credits: layout by Vinnie, Kiwiana paper by Lynn Grieveson, Doodle-do this and that overlay and Graphic garden kit by Katie Pertiet, mixed stamped alpha also by Katie, Something to crow about bird by Pattie Knox.

If you are inspired to scraplift Adryane’s layout, don’t forget to post in the Saturday Scraplift gallery - which was full to bursting last week:

Saturday Scraplift (No.45)

As sson as I saw this layout by Heather in the gallery I saved it to my favorites and knew I wanted to use it for a Saturday Scraplift.

It is a great example of how cropping can really make a page. Notice how tightly Heather cropped the photos yet by doing so somehow added to their impact! I love the contrast of the intense saturated colors with the white background as well.

Here’s what Heather inspired:

I’m really looking forward to seeing more layouts inspired by Heather’s striking page - and don’t forget to post in the Saturday Scraplift for us all to see! I Loved seeing these last week:

Saturday Scraplift (No. 44)

Recently our very talented Cassie held a chat, challenging people to scrap a layout in 30 minutes or less. That evening the gallery was bursting with eye-catching layouts in black and white (the papers and elements given out in the chat). One of these was this great page by Chris:
image

I love her offset, yet balanced, design. The placement of the big “3” is perfectly done. And, although the photos are small, they are completely the focus of the page. It’s a wonderful design for patterned paper as well.

I love how different the layouts inspired by Chris’ great page are:
image
Credits: layout by Angie, Circle of Love kit by Kellie Mize, Glitter strips By Katie Pertiet.

image
Credits: layout by Deena, Monoblendz Cayenne and Monoblendz Aqua papers by Anna Aspnes.

image

Credits: layout by Terri, Blue Sonata kit and Pear Crisp kitby Mindy Terasawa, Labelled Female brush set by Anna Aspnes.

It’s a great page to lift, and if you decide to take the challenge don’t forget to post in the Saturday Scraplift gallery!.

Loved these from last week:
