Smartly Blocked: Saturday Scraplift No. 246

Hi Everyone! It’s Katie here and I’ll be filling in for Lynn this month while she’s on holiday with her family!

Sweet and whimsical, this page by Cincirachel caught my eye and was a perfect lift for this week’s Saturday Scraplift

image

The blocks on either side of the photo make for great bookends and it’s all anchored further with the stitched border below. And the little bits of whimsical details just make me smile. Perfect!

In the corners: Saturday Scraplift No.245

This gorgeous and very “liftable” page by the talented Tracermaig (aka Trace) is this week’s inspiration for our scraplift challenge:

image

The lovely photo is front and center and with great clustering of layered paper strips and title drawing your eye to it. But what really makes the page is the beautiful corner detailing which makes the perfect finishing touch, and the stitched border that pulls everything together.

A real joy to lift, as Lori, Julie and I discovered:

Faded Layers: Saturday Scraplift No. 244

Debbie (aka dfwest) is creating a stunning series of pages featuring blended layers and subtle grids of stitching or tiny borders. They are all delightful and this is one of my favorites:

image

Isn’t it beautiful? I could look at it for ages, soaking up all the lovely detailing and the gorgeous color scheme. Although there is a lot going on there, it is one harmonious and soothing whole thanks to the subtle colours and the use of blending. Try using blend modes on some of your elements or paper layers and experimenting with the different effects you can get.

Debbie’s gorgeous page was an inspiration for me, Janet and Sharon:

Stacking it up: Saturday Scraplift No.243

This eye-catching page by Lizziet5 popped right out of the gallery at me:

image

Like all of her gorgeous layouts, it shines with it’s wonderful realistic detailing and great brushwork. I love the way the photo is cropped, and the stacked frames are a perfect touch to give more weight to the photo and draw your attention to it.

It certainly was a lovely page to lift:

make a big impact: Saturday Scraplift No.242

I have to admit that this week’s inspiration page, by the very talented Maria (aka ExoGonia) literally took my breath away:

image

Maria is creating a “Book of Wisdom” inspired by last year’s amazing project by Carollee, and each page is lovely. But this one is really something special.

A photo as meaningful as this shines on a page like this. I love that Maria didn’t try to crop it or “tidy it up” -  the way the photo is composed seems to add so much to it. The choice of vintage elements and the vintage book background also work so perfectly with it, with a “handmade with love” feel.

Here’s how Maria’s Greek honeymoon inspired Sam in South Africa and iUma in the USA:
