Less than two hours to go until Thursday, so I’m still good for your Wednesday “Just My Type” challenge for this week! *wink* And, either I’m getting lazy or I’m being really nice to y’all… this one could be construed as being pretty easy. Maybe… maybe not!

CHALLENGE: Use a font that came PRE-LOADED on your computer... you know, some of the fonts that you’ve never heard of, never use. Some are a little strange, some are only characters, some you think are boring… you know, the ones you just whoosh over in your quest to load up your favorite fonts! Fonts like Verdana, Vrinda, Constantia, Edwardian Script ITC… Berylium, Bondi... even ones we “know” but rarely use: Courier, Lucida, Comic Sans. (I have Vista and, man… there are TONS of “unknown” fonts pre-loaded!)

For this week’s layout, I used Pattie Knox’s new “Fanciful Felt Ribbons-Countdown” on my layout and wanted to use a font that was similar. Even the old standby Times New Roman wasn’t quite right, so I tried a pre-loaded font, Georgia. It worked perfectly… coordinating w/the font Pattie used in the felt ribbon.

So, instead of searching the web for new fonts, search your computer and see what font gems you can find! And, then USE one (or more!) on a layout! And, remember to post your layout in the “Just My Type” gallery at Designer Digitals! Enjoy the hunt!

Happy Thanksgiving to those of us celebrating it this week! And, to everyone else… Happy Week! *grin*

Since it is a holiday this week for many of us, I’ve kept this week’s challenge simple: Think ONE... one layout, one photo, using a one-word title and one "themed" font for your title. Choose that one word that sets the stage for your story and choose a font that complements your title theme.

I created two examples this week… both are quirky photos that my kids didn’t really want me to scrap, let alone post. But, I made a deal with them: I’d post both layouts so they’d both be embarrassed! (Does that make me a bad mommy?) hahahaha

On Derek’s layout, the first word that came to mind for me was "guns"... an obvious one-word title choice. And, for some reason, at the same time, I was thinking of the original Thanksgiving so I picked an "historic" font for my title: Jane Austen (from dafont.com). I actually loved the contradiction of modern vs. historic times and the way the font’s "g" frames the corner of the photo.

For Shannon’s layout, I think you can see where I got this one-word title! What a photo, huh? *wink* I chose Kelly Purkey’s SP Cranky Pants (from scrapsupply.com) for the title because it was named so perfectly, it’s a playful font (and I am teasing Shannon here!) and that "O" has such… well… emotion to it!

So, can you join in this week? It’s only ONE! *grin* And, remember to post your layouts in the Designer Digitals "Just My Type" gallery. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Enjoy! Happy Turkey Day

Boo! Since I’m posting in the late afternoon in Southern California, I’m sure some (most!) of you are already in the midst of ghosts and goblins and ghoulies! And, I hope you’re enjoying the Halloween festivities!

Since it’s Halloween, I thought I’d give you an EASY (and appropriate!) challenge this week… hey, maybe you can even get some scrapbooking done in between all the trick-or-treaters! smile

This week I’d like to see y’all use a HALLOWEEN-themed font on a layout! ‘Cuz I’m sure you’ll have lots of spooky pics to scrapbook! And, if you don’t have any ghostie pics, then I really challenge you to use a "spooky" font on a non-Halloween page!

Search any of the font websites for "Halloween" or "Horror" themed fonts and you’ll find a plethora of creepy ones to choose from… try Creepsville, Gypsy Curse or Gooey, all from www.dafont.com, to name just a few! I even found a few that could be used for the aforementioned non-Halloween layouts, too… maybe try Cold Night for Alligators and Nightmare.

I chose to use Nightmare for both my title and my journaling… even though this a Halloween layout, at 16 last year, Derek did NOT trick-or-treat (big surprise!) and I didn’t want the layout to be too un-cool or cute for his scrapbook!

So, take the simple challenge this week and scrap those Halloween pics, using some unique themed fonts! And, don’t forget to post your layout in the "Just My Type" gallery at Designer Digitals! Have fun!
