3 Kits 3 Ways {No.124}

If you read the 3K3W blog challenge from two weeks ago here on the DD Blog, you may have noticed that Merrilee and I are trying to create new 3K3W challenges with a little pizzaz!  Last week Merrilee introduced the challenge with a new twist . . . and this week I am following her lead and doing a second 3 x 3 = 9 kits challenge!  Bailey, Elena & Kathleen have created three pages with three kits of their choice . . . that gave us the nine kits to choose from.  If you would like to join these talented CT members, you can choose 3 of these 9 kits to use for your layout.  I love the widened leeway in the kits that Merr came up with.

Elena picked out three kits with all neutral tones for a page using photographs of her sister-in-law made during the Christmas holidays.

Merrilee and I look forward to seeing your pages posted in the 3Kits 3Ways Gallery.  We hope that you will join in the challenge by choosing 3 kits from the 9 kits featured on the blog today for your layouts.  It is quiet a challenge to limit yourself to three kits . . . especially if you love to use a dozen or more kits in your usual scrapping!!!  Have fun!

3 Kits Challenge (no. 122) with a twist

The 3 Kits Challenge with a new twist! 3 x 3 = 9! That’s right there are 9 kits featured this week, but, you can only use 3 of them to meet the challenge.

What if you only had 3 kits to work with to create a scrapbook page? It can be done and Melissa and Amy and I proved it with our example layouts.

Mollie and I want to put a fresh spin on our old 3 Kits Challenge this week, so, that’s exactly what I asked Melissa (aka Melissa Hill) and Amy (aka mymalloryboys) from the DD Creative Team to do. I asked them to each pick which 3 kits from the Designer Digitals store they wanted to use. The challenge was to use only those 3 kits! I also joined in on my own challenge, so, there are actually 9 kits featured this week. If you’d like to join in, you can pick 3 kits to use for your layout from any of the 9 kits featured. Then, share your layout in the 3 Kits 3 Ways Gallery to prove you met the challenge!

Both Melissa and Amy always create pages with many expertly placed lovely details. They proved to me with their outstanding layouts for this challenge that they are also very resourceful and inventive even when limited to using 3 kits. If you are just getting started scrapping digitally, keep in mind kits like these for versatility.

Melissa chose these 3 kits to create her pretty, well designed page:

3 Kits 3 Ways {No.122}

Hello and Happy New Year, everyone!  It is Mollie aka readstoomuch here today . . . I am half of the Merrilee & Mollie 3 Kits 3 Ways Challenge team. This year has flown by so quickly and I for one have had a wonderful time scrapping here at DD!  Katie along with the amazing design team here at Designer Digitals have really outdone their selves by creating dozens and dozens of new products for the store throughout the past year.  I think that we have access to the best selection of digital products anywhere to be found right at the click of our busy mouse!!!

My Christmas has been rather unorganized during the season this year; so I approached this 3K3W challenge rather too late to ask for help with the three layouts using three products.  You are stuck with me for all three ways this time around, I’m afraid!  Actually it was fun to try to use the same three products in three different ways in rapid succession . . . fun and a bit difficult for me too.

Let me show you the three kits that I have chosen . . . I have picked three very versatile products for you to play with today:

Maplebrook Studio’s Chiseled Alpha No. 5 is an extremely versatile alphabet:

The next kit is definitely a Christmas kit . . . and I have used it for two Christmas pages and one that isn’t Christmas at all.  I am totally crazy over the paper pack included in this kit!  The Santa Land Kit was new for Christmas this season:

image

and, Dating Labels No. 01 is a really nice group of labels to use on most any style of layout:

image

Here are the three ways in which I have used these kits:

My first layout is about a fun Secret Santa ornament exchange . . . I used the three challenge kits plus Design Your LIfe Template No. 07, In the Kitchen No. 03 Hand Drawn Words & Scallop Strip Masks No. 01.

image

Second is a double page layout using photographs of our granddaughter playing with some old toys that her mama and uncles played with as children:

image

My last page is another Christmas page . . . I loved using the Santa Land Kit!  The extras used for this page are:  Ho Ho Holiday Words Brushes and Stamps No. 03, Photo Clusters No. 05 and Stamped Blocks No. 06.

Merrilee and I look forward to seeing your pages posted in the 3Kits 3Ways Gallery.  And, remember that you can use any extra items from the Designer Digitals store that you would like to use for your layouts.  Be sure to look in the 3 Kits 3 Ways Gallery to see these layouts a bit closer too.

3 Kits 3 Ways No. 120

Hello everyone! It’s been a great year of showcasing products from the Designer Digitals store for you. Mollie and I enjoy seeing how you use the 3 kits we choose for each challenge. Keeping in mind, it’s not winter everywhere in the world and that other events, like birthdays, occur in December, I chose kits I thought could be either holiday themed layouts or something totally unrelated to the holidays. Noemi kit, for example, has great colors including red flowers and bows. Time pieces like clocks are classic elements for just about every subject you can think of. We’ve never featured a font before, and, it is about time we did because it is always fun to have a new font for a fresh look on our layouts.

The challenge is to use all three of the kits to create a layout. We ask 3 members of the DD Creative Team to take on the challenge first. Sharon, Jana and Terri provided the examples you see below. I hope you’ll join in this week.  Remember, these kits are sale today, too.

The 3 Kits:

Noemi Kit by MapleBrook Studios

Clock Parts No. 06 by Katie Pertiet

Sally Print Font by Jackie Eckles

The 3 Example Layouts by the Creative Team:

Layout by Sharon (aka Shannamay)
In Australia it is not winter so the kits worked well for Sharon to document the visit of her older daughter when her two daughters had time to enjoy the great outdoors together. I love the quiet, serene color scheme for this beautiful layout. Those great teal colored alpha tiles come in the kit, of course!

image
Sharon used Sun Prints Photo Masks No. 01 in addition to the 3 kits.

Layout by Jana (aka Jana Morton)
Jana likes to create a year-end review layout so she found the neutral designs in the 3 kits worked well for her theme. See how handy a clock element can be to signify the passage of time? Jana’s title with her shadow work is very impressive!
image

Jana used Letter Box Overlays No. 05, Satin Stitched Alphabet: Red No. 01, Lifted Wings No. 03 and Worn Page Edges in addition to the 3 kits.

Layout by Terri (AKA tdavenport)
Like many of us, Terri has a birthday of one of her children to document in December. See how well she used the kits for a festive birthday theme without using traditional December holiday colors? I love how she used the Sally Print font to create a very cool background paper. I can’t wait to lift her idea!

image

Game Cards: Birthday, Birthday Clusters No. 01, Banner Safety Tags No. 01 and Ticket Stickers No. 02 complete her page.

Thank you, Sharon, Jana and Terri!
Please post your layouts in the 3 Kits 3 Ways Gallery. I just know I am going to love your ideas for using the 3 kits. Molly and I will be back after the first of the year with another challenge. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the holidays wherever you live.
