3 Kits 3 Ways {No.130}

This week is an all Katie challenge!  All three of the challenge kits are by Katie . . . our Store Owner, Designer, Scrapper . . . inspiration . . . you name it!

I am thinking back a few months when we were using extras along with the three challenge kits . . . so this week you can pick three additional all Katie products for extras too.  Only two rules . . . all Katie . . . no more extras, only three!  Not too hard . . . not too easy . . . just a little temporary change up.

I’ve browsed the Designer Digital’s Store and have pulled out one of my favorite paper packs and photo frame sets from 2009 along with a fairly new set of Fine Line Twists.

Here are the three basic kits that I have chosen from Katie:

Notebook Paper Pack No. 05

Spring Twists No. 01

Classic Curled Photo Frames No. 01

I have been bad . . . again . . .  (hanging my head in shame)!  I came very close to forgetting the three kits challenge this week.  No excuse the usual busy life like every one of you . . . maybe a few brain cells gone astray since my last birthday party!  So, Lynn (grandma Lynnie) and I scrapped three different layouts with the three Katie kits and three Katie extras of our choice!  I was in a bit of a scrap slump, but once I got started on the challenge, I had a ball . . . darling husband may be wondering why his shirt wasn’t ironed for church on Sunday, but he didn’t say a word!

The challenge for Lynn and myself and for you is to create a layout using the three challenge kits and only the three extras of Katie’s which you chose.  When you finish your layouts, upload them to the 3 Kits 3 Ways Gallery here at Designer Digitals.

My first page is all about the Luna Moth.  They are favorites of ours and we watch & wait for them to return each May.  I have used the following three extras:  Krafty Alpha: Spring Green, All Set Alpha No. 01, and Date Strips No. 01.

image

My second page uses photos of our then one-year-old granddaughter playing in the sand.  I used the following extras:  Be Mine Tonal Stripes, Banner Strips Words: Love No. 01 & Photo Corners: Colors No. 02.

image

Next, Lynn [grandma lynnie] created a layout to remember her grandson’s first lost tooth.  And, lost it was!!  Lynn used these extras from Katie:  Fairy Friends No. 01 Brushes and Stamps, Lightly Letter Box Paper Pack, Fairmont Solids Paper Pack.

Merrilee and I are partners for this challenge and we always look forward to seeing your pages posted in the 3Kits 3Ways Gallery

3 Kits 3 Ways: no. 129

Choosing the right kits to use together on a layout is an art in itself. We are probably all creatures of habit, at times, who keep reaching for the same kits when we create. Mollie and I hope the 3 Kits 3 Ways Challenge introduces you to combinations of kits that are new and unique when used together. This week my eyes were opened to new possibilities by the choices made by Janet, Terri and Connie. After the 3 kits were chosen, Janet, Terri and Connie used only those 3 kits to create fabulous layouts as examples for the blog.

First, I asked Janet to choose a full kit by Lynn Grieveson. She chose Wild Weekend Kit

Next, I asked Terri to choose frames by Katie Pertiet to use with Wild Weekend.
She chose Stitched Up Frames No. 04

For the third kit I asked Connie to choose some fun tapes by Andrea Victoria.
She chose Essential Tapes: Just Dots

And, Ta Da! Look at the variety in the example layouts! Would you ever guess they used the same 3 kits and only those kits?

Layout by Janet
Janet is known for her creative use of labels for journaling on her layouts. In Wild Weekend KIt she found the labels she needed! Notice she clipped patterned papers from the kit to the alphas for a unique looking title.

Layout by Terri
Terri used the striking blue sunburst pattern paper for her background paper and the frames are perfect for the individual photos of her sons.

Layout by Connie
Connie created a completely different look using papers from the kit, one fantastic photo and added the waving flags for this a happy summer page!

I think the tapes add a whimsical touch to all three layouts, of course!

OK, your turn! Show us how you would use the 3 kits together. Please post in the 3 Kits 3 Ways Gallery.

3 Kits 3 Ways {No.128}

Once again we are mixing things up for the 3 Kits 3 Ways Challenge.  I asked three of the Designer Digital’s Creative Team to choose a kit for the challenge.  And, once again we got three fabulous scrappers and three wonderful products to work with.  I think you will enjoy using them just as much as the team members did.

First we needed to choose a full kit to work with . . . Linda [earlofoxford] started us out with a sure winner!

image

Linda chose Maplebrook Studio’s Limon Kit.

image

Next, I asked Melissa [Melissa Hill] to choose word art for the challenge.

image

Mel chose Cathy Zielske’s Hello ‘Ness’ Word Art.

image

My third request was to ask Doris [echogirl] to pick out an element cluster.

image

Doris chose the terrific Studio Double-D Flowering Clusters No. 01.

image

The challenge for the team members and for you is to create a layout using only these three kits using no extra supplies and upload them to the 3 Kits 3 Ways Gallery here at Designer Digitals.

Each layout created is fabulous and so different from one another!  It always amazes me that with such limited supplies we get pages in the gallery that are so varied in design.

Linda’s page shows her darling grandson’s first year playing Upward Football.  Don’t you just love the photo of father and son?

image

Mel’s wonderfully simple page is all about her journaling . . . and what a fabulous page she created with the 3 kits and her lovely thoughts about happiness.  Be absolutely sure that you read this one.

image

And, finally Doris wowed me with her page.  The photo is wonderful on it’s own . . . but, you must read what Doris wrote so beautifully about her wishes for her life and the lives of her children.

My 3 Kits 3 Ways partner, Merrilee and I look forward to seeing your pages posted in the 3Kits 3Ways Gallery.  And, be sure to look in the 3 Kits 3 Ways Gallery to see these layouts a bit closer too.  I enjoyed seeing the avatar’s of the team members that Merr posted on her blog entry two weeks ago so much that I thought I would do the same this week.  Good idea, Merr!  Thanks to Linda, Mel and Doris for helping out with the challenge today.  Now I’m off to finish a page of my own for the Gallery . . . hope to see you there too!

3 Kits 3 Ways: no. 127

Hi everyone! Is it spring where you live or are you ushering in the fall season? No matter where you live, it’s fun to think of how we have scrapping friends from all over the world at Designer Digitals. For the 3 Kits Challenge, we’re featuring 3 kits that will work no matter what the season. Instead of picking out the kits myself, I asked three of the Creative Team members to do the choosing. I think you’re going to love the results.

First, I asked Jess to start us out by picking a full kit from the Designer Digitals store.
image

Jess chose the Noemi Kit by MapleBrook Studios.

Next, I asked Linda (aka Lindar70) to choose an alphabet kit to go with the Noemi Kit.
image

Linda chose Putting on the Glitz: Disco Ball Alphabet by Pattie Knox:

For the third kit, I asked Sharon to choose a word art kit for the 3rd kit.
image

Sharon chose Simple Celebrations Baby Elements by Ali Edwards

Now, the challenge is to create a scrapbook page using only these three kits. Upload your page to the 3 Kits 3 Ways Gallery so we can see how you would use the 3 kits.

Jess, Linda and Sharon created beautiful examples for me to show you. I think you’ll agree the 3 kits work together very well.

Thank you, Jess, Linda and Sharon. It was fun for me to have help picking the kits. In fact, I know I’ll use this method of choosing again!

3 Kits 3 Ways {No.126}

We are running with 3 x 3 = 9 for our 3 Kits 3 Ways again this week.  And, it looks like all three CT member bloggers are running with girls this week too.  Steph scrapped her daughter . . . iUma and I scrapped granddaughters.  What fun.  We hope that you will choose three kits from the nine we have used and scrap something wonderful too to post in the 3 Kits 3 Ways Gallery.

Steph, iUma and I (readstoomuch) have chosen three kits for each of our three layouts featured here on the blog today.  The challenge is to pick only three kits from the nine and create your page with no extras!

Steph’s page uses:

Painted Accents No. 05 - Katie Pertiet

Lovisa Solids - Maplebrook Studios

and, Pocket Cards: Graphed No. 02 - Katie Pertiet

Merrilee and I look forward to seeing your pages posted in the 3Kits 3Ways Gallery.  We hope that you will join in the challenge by choosing 3 kits from the 9 kits featured on the blog today for your layouts.  It is quiet a challenge to limit yourself to three kits . . . especially if you love to use a dozen or more kits in your usual scrapping!!!  Have fun!
