Merry Christmas! Its just about the big day, can you believe it?!
First, if youre creating your Days of December layouts, be ready for the 24/25th of December - I reckon you’re going to be busy
- so use your template, get your elements in order and then you can just slide in your photos and be done. Recording your day is worth its weight in gold, but so is living the moment!
I’ve also got the jump start on some creative, festive layout ideas for you
1) Consider bullet pointing your day. 8am? 11am? Share whats going on in your home. Its an excellent way of getting lots of details and information across without writing paragraph after paragraph. Bet you’ve got ten seconds for one line every hour or so…
2) Hand the children the camera! Okay, maybe not THE Camera, but make sure theirs is charged and ready to go. A whole new perspective on their - and your- day!
3) What wouldn’t it be Christmas without? What *always* happens to you at Christmas? Do the Christmas lights fuse? Your Mother completely over-cater? Does Santa alway leave you a Terry’s Chocolate Orange? Put it down on paper, the good, the bad and the downright funny; what makes it Christmas Day in your house?
4) Have you thought of sharing the journaling? Maybe all your family and guests can give you one line about their favourite part of the day. So can relatives over the phone.
5) Take a picture of all your gift tags, of all the parcels, of all the baking, (and in my case of all the snow
)
Last minute gifts needed? Yes, me too
I think I’ve been creating since September and I’m still not done…
Along with the usual calendars, cards and photobooks, here’s what else I’ve been making-
I was hugely inspired by Janet’s Type poster for her daughter and its taken me in all sorts of directions, gift wise.
I made my surname

(and liked that so much its become a mousemat or two for Christmas…)
And also used that idea to create ‘message posters’ for loved ones, like this one;

I think the thing I’ve enjoyed making the most though, has to be personalised Printer Trays.
Take one of Katie’s Printer Trays, alter it to your desired size, add in lots of elements, particularly those apt to the recipient, a bunch of tiny family photos, and get it framed in a box frame…

(not toooo close up on those… shhh! secret!)
Heres one I can show you in detail

I think they are going to be very well received
I hope you’ll share any last minute gifts you create in the gallery, and that you’ll join me back here next week, when its ‘Get it Together -for 2011!’
Happy Holidays
