Get It Together, No. 19

Some things you may be interested in Scrapping this week …

What, if anything, is being given up for Lent in your house? This leads nicely onto layouts about what you just cant live without, cravings and sweet tooth addictions!

Shrove Tuesday – or Pancake Day as its known over here smile, is also a good time to seek out your recipes - pancakes or otherwise, and finally put them down on a page.

Don’t feel you have to make an entire cook book all at once. Just now and then, as you bake/cook/mix up something in the kitchen, take some photos – iphone pics work very well- and write it all down.  For yourself, for your children, for your friends….

There’s a bundle of fun cooking/kitchen stuff in the store.

Like Anna’s Cuisine range,  Katie’s virtual recipe cards and ideal brushes, a whole plethora of Ali’s words, Lynn’s mini kitchen  kit, and Pattie’s genius, step by step, personalized, Cook Book.

To give you some ideas for pages, let me share some of the Creative Team’s recipe pages with you.

- I am truly starving now I’ve linked to all these!!!

On a truly different note; on this very day, in 1876, a certain Mr Bell made the first telephone call.

I wonder what he’d think of all the time my teen daughter wastes on the phone…?!

What about you? Who do you call most?  Or are you a text and email type of girl like me?

iPhone-aholic? Cell phone-phobic? It’s a good page-in-the-making don’t you think?

I even found a few little old fashioned ‘telephones tucked away in the store for your telephone pages.

Stickers, brushes and a cherub on the phone!

Hybrid Scrapbooking and More: St. Patrick’s day treats - customized treat toppers!

Growing up in Ireland we always got to have special treats on St. Patrick’s day. It always falls in the middle of Lent for Catholics where we tend to give up treats until Easter. St Patrick’s day was a special day where we were allowed to have treats, as he is the patron saint of Ireland. I wanted to give my kids special St Patrick’s day treats and what better way than to use my digital supplies to make some treat toppers.

image

I fit 4 toppers on one 8.5x11 sheet of paper. I just used regular cardstock when printing - these toppers are going to be thrown away so I don’t need to waste my photo paper!

image

After printing, I trimmed the paper into four 5.5 x 4.25 pieces, folded them in half lengthwise and used them on top of little treat bags that I filled with Lucky Charms!
There’s some great Irish/St Patrick’s day products in the store - watch out for a great new product from Katie coming soon - Wearing of the Green embellishment pack.

Mix It Up

One of my favorite techniques when using a template is to put pictures in some of the spaces and patterned paper in others. Amber, Wendy, and I must have been thinking along the same lines when we worked with Ali Edwards’ Layered Template No. 33 because we all used that technique and still came up with very different looking layouts. See what you think:

Amber (AmberR) documented making her daughter’s veterinarian costume for a school event. I love the mix of patterned papers she chose to complement her color scheme and the detail shots she included of the cute costume. Her choice of accents is perfect for the budding vet.

Wendy’s (wendymck) dramatic page highlights her son’s victories in his recent wrestling tournament. I really like how she combined two of the spaces to showcase her focal photo, and the black background really makes her pictures pop.

I reduced the size of Ali’s template slightly and used it for some pictures I had of a recent family lunch. The brown and gold-toned papers were a good match for my pictures, and I interspersed them in the spaces of the template.

Whether you have a few pictures or lots of pictures, this template is the perfect vehicle for them. You can mix it up with pictures and paper and still have a clean, crisp layout. Ali’s template is a bargain today at 30% off. After you finish your page, post it in the Template Challenge Gallery so we can leave you some love.

All About Me Challenge No. 26

Welcome to the All About Me Challenge!

Today’s topic is a fun one - shopping. The winter weather just seems to be dragging on and on this year and I’m finding myself longing for bright days, spring colors and a warm breeze. I see catalogs advertising spring clothes, seeds and flowers to plant, and lawn furniture and I can’t wait until I can do a bit of shopping for just a few items to brighten up the house and my mood.

This month’s challenge is to create a layout about your favorite shopping experience - maybe it’s simply looking through new catalogs, maybe it’s window shopping, maybe it’s your favorite online store, or maybe it’s a trip you took to New York.

I also want to point out a few new items that you can shop for here at DesignerDigitals that are perfect for All About Me layouts.

Pattie’s Text Bytes: Shaped Text Templates No. 39 are perfect for a lot of journaling.

image

Cathy’s new Story Guide not only includes room for a lot of journaling but also gives you a great idea for a topic.

And don’t forget the Layer Works series for a super-quick All About Me page. I used Layer Works No. 26 for my layout and just changed out the title.

Supplies: Layer Works No. 26, Princess Fairy Tales Solids Paper Pack, You Brushes and Stamps Vol. 02

I can’t wait to see your pages!
