New Blog, New Gallery for IdeaBooks4u

I’m popping in today to announce the launch of IdeaBooks4u new blog -  Big Ideas.  At Big Ideas we have thousands of scrapbooking  ideas at our fingertips and we want to share them with you!  Each week we will feature one of the following; a new design idea, computer technique or photography tip.  Everything you need to bring your scrapbook pages to the next level!  This week we’re featuring a cool way to mask text to appear behind an image.  We took this from The Ultimate Guide to Digital Scrapbooking from Scrapbooks, Etc.   Katie has created a new gallery to post our weekly layouts called The IdeaBooks4u Inspiration Gallery.

You’re invited to play along.  First check out the weekly tip, next create your layout, and then simply post it in the gallery.  This week everyone who posts a layout using the featured technique will be entered in to win a fun prize from IdeaBooks4u.  I hope you’ll join us!  - Jill Hogan

3 Kits 3 Ways {week 15}

I’m baaaaack! smile

Big thanks to Debi for covering last week for me. But it’s good to be back and we have another fun 3K3W challenge this week.

For those of you who are new, the 3K3W challenge is super easy. 3 creative team members take 3 different kits and use them on a page. Other products can be added as well, but the main focus is on the 3 kits. Usually, I choose products that have been in the store for awhile and that you might have forgotten were on your digi shelves. Sometimes the challenges are themed, sometimes not. It’s just whatever strikes me when I’m in the store.

This week’s challenge all started with the alpha. I got ACDsee last week and it has revolutionized my scrapping life! As I was cataloging and tagging and tagging and cataloging last week I rediscovered this cool alpha and decided that it needed to be in the challenge. So I picked papers and elements with the alpha in mind.

So, without further ado, here are the products for this week’s challenge

This page is such a wow. First of all, this paper is so darn cool! I love finding stuff like this when we bust out a paper pack for the challenge. I think you might see this on a page of mine soon too! The 3 kits are used pretty obviously here with the title and the background paper. In addition, Heidi used Linen Titles by Jesse Edwards, the Breast Cancer free template by Kellie Mize and Twirl a Whirl, Be Mine Alpha and True Love alpha by Pattie Knox.

This page is pretty straight forward but I ended up with a lot of photos from our bowling outing and this simple grid allowed me to use several on one page. I stayed true to the 3 kits with just the addition of the Krafty Frames by Katie Pertiet and the D&W tuckables by Kellie Mize.

Doesn’t this totally make you go "AWWWWWW"? And trust me on this, he really is THAT cute in person too. In a whirling dervish sort of way but still so adorable. Steph stayed completely true to the challenge and didn’t add any additional product. But that is fine with me. I love this page just as it is!

Feel free to play along and post your pages in the 3 Kits 3 Ways gallery when you are finished!

Since I’m off duty next week (and at Disney World with my family!) I’d like to wish everyone a very happy and safe Thanksgiving here in the States. I will be back in 2 weeks with a new challenge and you can bet there will be Disney pictures on my pag

Layout of the Week 11/13/2007

Hi Everyone!

The Layout I picked this week comes from someone who is filling up my Favorites Folder. I love her eye for design, the Simplicity of her pages and the way she showcases her pictures. Her Username is VShalini Pearce and here is *my* Layout of the week.

I love the black and white Background held together with the Stitching, the sweet picture, her Brushwork and the Title just makes me smile.

See you next week,

Saturday Scraplift (no 38)

I laughed when I saw this page by Pri:

image

So glad she scrapped the pics rather than ditching them  - but losing the top of her head doesn’t appear to have diminished her scrapping abilities!

This page design and the colors work so well. The Tweet birds and the title form a great visual triangle which means even though the design is heavily weighted on one side, it is still restful for the eye. Love how the white space top and bottom helps balance it all out as well.

It was wonderful to be able to call on this month’s guest CT member Melanie (aka the famous Britgirl!) this week. She and Paula came up with these great layouts using Pri’s page as an inspiration:

Credits: layout by Paula, notebook paper by Katie Pertiet (coming soon), Pacific Point kit by Kellie Mize, Doodle Swirl brush by Anna Aspnes (how did I never notice these before?!! Have to get hold of them!!),paper bag alpha  by Lynn Grieveson, dirty photo frames by Katie Pertiet.

Hope you can play along and come up with a lift as well! Don’t forget to post in the Saturday Scraplift gallery!

Loved seeing these last week:
