Saturday Scraplift No.161
That is how Anxela scraps - strong pages with stunning photography and immediate impact. This week’s inspiration page from her gallery is a perfect example:
Such a “wow” page, with that smiling face front and centre, and the wonderful use of patterned paper (just enough to add interest to the page, but not so much as to overwhelm the photo). I love how the solid block of journaling becomes a major design feature. When you are planning out or creating about a layout and thinking about the “shapes” that make up the page, don’t forget that journaling too can be part of the structure of the page rather than something you just fit in afterwards wherever it looks best!
I love that white background too. The whole page is so crisp and clean, yet full of delight.
I wanted to have a go at lifting it, as did Bailey and Kayleigh:

Bailey’s layout shows the joy of scraplifting - you can change a one photo layout into a multi-photo layout by substituting a block of photos for the single photo and change a white based page into an explosion of color with stunning results:

July is here and picking up speed! I hope you are all finding time to get out side with your cameras. I’m struggling to do so. School summer break has not started yet here in the UK but I am so ready for it… I dont like having to run around in this heat at all. Bring on the long and lazy summer days please!
I’m drawn to all sorts of pictures, for all sorts of reasons, in our flickr group, but this group caught my eye because of the post processing on them. I love good post processing… nothing to shocking, just enough to evoke a mood or time.
Like Jan’s duck
Very cute waddling shot
I just love it… anybody else hear the ‘Littlest Hobo’ music as the duck walks away?! LOL
And this by mprussell, such ‘old photo’ sunshine! tell me; can I grow that plant over here?! Beautiful!
Susie has already got fifty six billion comments {or thereabouts
} for this gorgeous shot, excellent choice to use postprocessing on this -
And finally this black and white posted by acmillian - post processing is not just about the dreamy yellow hues, but creating a fabulous black and white too!
Please take some time to leave comments on our Flickr group, it really makes your day when people do so!
Hello - and yes, I am back again. Not on vacation from Art Journaling yet. Almost, but not yet.
First off, let us have a look at two pages from our AJ gallery. Don’t miss out - have a look at all the gorgeous art
our members create! It is always an inspiration to peruse this gallery.
I enjoyed Serenoa’s page Minna by the Sea ....
And MzRebecca’s page was fascinating to me too….
Now, this week, I want to inspire you to do two things. First of all to be inspired by music - go listen to music while making your page, perhaps journal about your favorite music style/song/artist, close your eyes while listening to the music and recreate the colors/movement/feelings the music evoke in you. The second thing is to use a mask on your page. Draw with your Polygonal Lasso Tool, Ellipse Tool, Rectangle Tool, Custom Shape Tool or any other of the tool. Fill it with any colors you please. Then pick a paper you like, drag it onto your page so that the layer is above the shape you just drew, and then click Ctrl+G (Command+G for Mac) in Photoshop CS.
Here is my page:
Music always picks me up and makes me happy, but there is one song that has that SPECIAL effect on me. It was a hit a few years ago, at least in Europe, a song by Phat and Small called “Hey what’s wrong with you”.
So I used this song on the background paper, lowered the opacity and fill. I cut up the paper doll and drew a skirt with the polygonal lasso tool and filled it with a paper and added the feet from an old photo. I “stamped” a title, added some paint on the background paper, doodles and stitches. Right before I flattened and saved, I added the orange paper strips to make it a little more interesting and eye-catching.
Go create some art and make it loud!!
Until next time - have fun. ~ Aino.
