1940 Census Indexing Project and Scrapbooking
Scrapbooking is all about capturing a moment in time with photos and journaling. Remembering events such as a wedding, various children events and the like are things that we do every day.
Well April 2nd is a huge day! The 1940 census will be released to the general public by the National Archives as digital images but not indexed. The census is a great source of information to help with historical journaling and genealogical research. Before the census can be of any use it needs to be indexed. Every digital image needs to be reviewed and the information entered so others can find any detail of the over 130 million residents from 1940.
The 1940 Census Project needs your help. All you need to do is just sign up to help enter the information from the digital images into an index that everyone can use. Any help indexing would be greatly appreciated!
And almost everyone will have some personal connection to this census. From a parent, grandparent and aunts and uncles could be found. For me this will be the first census that my dad appears in. This is special to me as my father was killed in Korea in the service as a young man.
Once you are able to research using the 1940 census we have a large series of genealogy brushes and elements to help. Here are just a few of the genealogy products that we have here in the store:
