A blocked layout with a twist

Saturday Scraplift No. 120

This week’s inspiration layout comes to us from the very talented LauraBean, whose gallery is full of beautifully put together pages like this one:

Initally it was the eye-catching color scheme and the funky, retro look that pulled me in. Love that OMG paper by Anna! But on closer inspection it is essentially a simple blocked design, with a vertical strip of paper on one side and another horizontal strip on the other. A blocked design is always a good way to give structure to a page, and in this case Laura has given it an extra twist by clipping her block on the side to one of Katie’s Messed Up edge Die Cut masks. If you have never tried clipping paper to another shape (which is all that a “clipping mask” entails, give it a go and you’ll be hooked on all the possibilities.

Regardless of whether you want to try a shaped edge, or stick to a straightforward blocked design, there is lots of inspiration in this cool page - as Linda, Brittany and Steph discovered:
