All About Me Challenge No. 3

Welcome to the 3rd installment of the All About Me Challenge! I’m so excited by all of the layouts that have been posted in the AAM Gallery for the first two challenges - so many stories told, so much touching and thoughtful journaling - it’s so thrilling to see YOU in your layouts!

I’ve had a couple of questions about the challenge that I wanted to answer here before we get too much farther into the year.

***

Q: Is it okay if I do two-page layouts for some of the challenges?

A: Of course!!! It’s your AAM book - or layouts if you prefer not to make a book out of it. You have total creative freedom over your book.

***

Q: I have too much journaling on this topic and want to break the challenge down into multiple layouts. What do you think?

Q: I might do multiple layouts on some of the topics. Will that interfere with the format of the book?

A: I think breaking down the challenges/topics into multiple layouts is great! Again, it’s your book. And there is no special formatting for this challenge or book. Some of us will make a Shutterfly book out of the layouts at the end of the year, some will simply print the layouts as they normally do and put in an album. Personally, I may add other layouts that I’ve made about me into my book at the end of the year. It really doesn’t matter - it’s all up to you and what you like.

If you have any more questions, feel free to send me a private message through Designer Digitals or start a thread in the forum and I’ll answer you as soon as I can.

The 3rd challenge is an easy and fun one! We’ve gone really deep with our first two so let’s lighten it up a bit for this one.

AAM #3 Assignment: Make a layout about what makes you smile. It could be as simple or as complex as you want. You can choose just one thing, such as your children, and do a layout about that one subject or you can make more of a list. If you need some ideas, here are some of mine as an example.

1. my children laughing
2. the first snow of the year
3. my grandmother’s recipes
4. the smell of the ocean
5. an empty inbox
6. scrapbooking
7. bonfires on the beach
8. the smell of freshly cut grass
9. my crazy puppy greeting me in the morning
11. my 50mm 1.4 lens
12. french vanilla creamer

Our featured community member for this challenge is Carol (oldbag165). Her first two AAM layouts are just fantastic - her journaling is honest and real and her designs are simply beautiful. Take a few minutes and check out her gallery.

Carol’s layout for this challenge made me smile immediately. The minute you read her journaling, you will start smiling and not stop until the end! I love her journaling style.

Supplies: Tabbed Dates No. 2 (coming soon!), Stuffed Edge Photo Frames (coming soon!), DIY Acrylic Alphabet No. 4 (coming soon!), Collageables No. 3, Glitter Lines Alphabet: Blue, Staple Its!, Simple Geo: Part I Paper pack, The Love Bandit Solids Paper Pack, A Beautiful Day Mini Kit, PS I Love You No. 3:Custom Text Paths and Shapes, Stitched By Anna White No. 1, Chunky Torn Paper Edges

I chose to make a list for my journaling. I didn’t have any set length - I simply wrote what came to mind at that moment. It doesn’t have to take a long time or have in depth journaling. Just write down what makes you smile. And I found this wonderful piece of word art from Ali Edwards in her This Is The Day Word Art - I simply erased part of the sentence and it works perfectly for this challenge.
