Heritage Challenge No. 02
Today is the second posting of the new Heritage Challenge here on the Designer Digitals blog . Steph {Steph}, Lynn {grandma lynnie} and I {Mollie aka readstoomuch} are sort of a tag team for this new challenge. Steph started this new challenge off two weeks ago with a bang using the prompt of Heritage Weddings, and boy did you respond! At last count, there were 24 fabulous heritage wedding layouts posted in our fun new gallery. After enjoying all of these layouts, I am really pumped for this weeks challenge.
The prompt for this week is to “Create a Page about a Grammar School Year”. This doesn’t need to be about yourself, it could be a parent, a child, a grandparent . . . or just about someone you love. Fiona {Applechick } & Linda {earlofoxford } from the DD Creative Team have joined me in creating pages about memorable school years when each of us were young! What fun it was to relive some of the things that are dear to our hearts. I hope that you will join in the fun and create a layout of your own and post your layout in the Heritage Gallery too! Each week we will give a new “prompt” or idea for you to gain inspiration from, and we will post three layouts from Creative Team members using the prompts on the DD Blog.
The challenges are rather loose with only two “rules”:
1. At Designer Digitals, heritage means photos or events from the 1970’s or earlier. That is one generation . . . and means that many of us are “heritage gals”! Sorry girls, but the truth hurts, doesn’t it?
2. And, for your layouts . . . you should use all Designer Digitals products to post in the Heritage Gallery.
Now let us get to the fun! The first layout titled “Just Me” is from Fiona. Just take a peek at five year old Fiona with her plaits & all of the neat things from that year that she has scanned in for her page! Click on the link for Fiona’s gallery to see the many products that she has used in creating her page.
Now, take a look at Linda’s “Yesteryear” layout and enjoy memories of her 6th grade year in 1959. Don’t you think that Linda looks exactly the same now as then (except for her hair)! Here is the link for Linda’s gallery too.
I am bringing up the end of the blog layout examples by reminiscing about 1953-1954 when I was in the 3rd grade. My page goes by the title “Mumps & Ma Ruby”. I couldn’t find an individual school photo from that year, but I do have our group photograph & a few candid shots. I do have so many fond memories to pass down to my children and grandchildren from that long ago year & I’m so happy to have them recorded now!
