3 Kits 3 Ways No. 83

For the 3 Kits Challenge, Mollie and I suggest kit ideas that we think go well together and then we provide 3 layout examples for further inspiration from the Designer Digitals team. This week, Terri (aka tdavenport), Patricia (aka iUma) and Aino are in the 3 Kits spotlight here on the blog. A beautiful background paper with a little texture is always a good place to start when you plan a layout. Then, I really like to use a set of versatile photo frames for my photos and word art often provides the eye catching punch to make layout shine. With that in mind, please check out the kits I chose by Gretchen Thomas, Katie Pertiet and Cathy Zielske.

Type Set Brushes and Stamps: Love No. 01

Now, for the fun part. Here’s how the team used the 3 Kits:
Terri created a very special Happy Anniversary Layout. Since she wanted to showcase one main photo she cleverly filled the other frames with patterned papers from Sweet Madeline: Remix by Lynn Grieveson. I think Terri chose the perfect title!

Next up is a fun layout by Patricia (aka iUma) called All You Need is Love. Do you recognize the three friends in the photograph? I think we all wish we could have been with them in Maine for this visit bringing three of our favorite Designer Digitals scrappers together. They are obviously enjoying each other’s company. I’m not surprised! Patricia used the postage stamp frames to frame her eye catching word art for the title and the map for the background is perfect for the theme.

Patricia’s additional kits include Roughed Up Maps, Botanist Notebook No. 22 Kit, and Deckled Photo Frames: Vintage by Katie Pertiet; Stitched by Anna Borders No. 02 and Artsy Love Page Set by Anna Aspnes.

Who can resist falling in love with Aino’s little girl, Maya? I just love this shot of Maya looking directly at the camera and Aino’s talent for creative digital design is so evident on this page. Note how Aino used the postage stamp frame with a cluster of pretty elements.

Aino’s extras include Loopdaloop Flutterbys No. 01 by Anna Aspnes; Little Plastic Flowers No. 01, Meadow Ridge Kit by Katie Pertiet; Beach Bloom Solids by Andrea Victoria.

Wow, I can’t say enough about how much I admire these pages using the 3 versatile kits from the Designer Digitals store. Thank you, Terri, Patricia and Aino. Now, I look forward to visiting the 3 Kits gallery to see more examples from YOU! The 3 kits are always on special the day the challenge is posted. Please post your layouts in the 3 Kits Gallery .

All About Me Challenge No. 13

Welcome to the All About Me Challenge!

This week’s challenge is a fun one! The AAM assignment is entitled “The Music of My Life.” You can take this any direction you’d like - your favorite music now, an iPod running list you might have, a favorite band, the music of your childhood, concerts you’ve gone to, etc….. Don’t worry if you can’t find photos - this one may be a tough one to find photos of, so don’t be afraid to be creative.

And look at the inspiration we have this week! Two absolutely stunning layouts by our CT members that are truly inspiring.

Sam’s take on this assignment is fantastic! And the photos of her are perfect.

PageKraft: WriteTrue + Click #14

Potential. It is everywhere. With each click of your camera there is so much potential.

For this week’s PageKraft: WriteTrue + Click we are focused on the click. With this click I’m focusing on negative space. It leaves your viewer with no question about the subject of your photo, drawing their eye to exactly what you want them to see. When a photo with negative space is moved to a page, your creative options are opened. You can journal on the photo. You can fill the page with the color from your photo, as I have in this layout, creating what appears to be a large photo.

Credits can be found here.

Where can you find negative space? Look for a table, drape a sheet or blanket, or place your subject on top of your washing machine as I have here. I like to call it “my studio.” A piece of white foam core or a large piece of cardboard could work as well. To capture a large shadow, use side lighting. Light from a north facing window is typically best.

What potential can you capture? Please share yours in the PageKraft: WriteTrue + Click Gallery.
