Saturday Scraplift (No. 39)

Stunning in its simplicity is the only way to describe this great layout by Vinnie:

image

The bright colors in the photo just pop against the Kraft background, and since the photo is very busy the plain background is perfect for allowing it to shine and not overwhelm. And the typography is perfect of course! Love the colored title! (A hint: to stretch out a font such as Century Gothic to get a really striking and professional look you adjust the spacing between the letters. In Photoshop, for example, just click on window-character and you will get a dialogue box which allows you to change the spacing from auto).

We loved lifting Vinnie’s stunning page, and hope you will too:

3 Kits 3 Ways {Week 16}

It’s still Wednesday where I live so we’re going to pretend it’s Wednesday everywhere ok? smile

I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving week if you live some where that celebrates a day of total gluttony…hee! My family and I had a WONDERFUL trip to Disney and although I promised to show off pics of the trip with this 3K3W challenge, I had 3 incredible designers step up this week and make pages so that I could work on laundry, laundry and more laundry (and no, I’m still not done!)

If you are new to DD and the 3K3W challenge, it’s very simple. Every other Weds., I pick 3 kits and 3 creative team members use those kits in unique ways. I tend to pick slightly older stuff from the store to remind you of something that may be on your digi shelf that you forgot about, or to inspire you to revisit an old favorite. Please play along and post your pages in the 3 Kits 3 Ways Gallery when you are finished.

This week I choose a template because I wanted this to be the intro page to my Disney album. And yes, I’ll do the page this weekend…scouts honor! I also picked a favorite paper pack and a little felt…cause it’s cold here. smile

So, here are the kits:

Be Mine Felt Alpha by Pattie Knox

And here 3 very different interpretations of the template. These girls gave me some great ideas!

Page by Lynn Weber
This template may have been made for birthday pics. What a great way to showcase a lot of gymnastic party photos on one page. Lynn used the template as is for this page. In addition to the 3 kits, Lynn added Seaside kit jewelry tags by Katie Pertiet and Blue Felt Alpha (for the 5) by Pattie Knox.

Page by Paula Gilarde
Paula turned the template on it’s ear and now it doesn’t even look like the same template! I love that!! She also added stitching around every edge and it really polishes off her quilt like page. Bravo! Paula also added a few things to the challenge including: Drop Shadow Actions, Digital Stitches, and Story Time Kit by Katie Pertiet.

Page by Mollie Taylor
Isn’t this cool? Yes, it’s the same template turned upside down this time. In addition Mollie merged each column of photo blocks together and used the five layer masks rather
that the many small layer masks.  Also, she moved the large red part of the
template more toward the bottom making it a more narrow shape. Mollie stayed true to the 3 kits and did an outstanding job doing it too!

Thanks girls for all your help this week and remember if you want to play along at home, we’d love to see your work in the 3 Kits 3 Ways Gallery.

Layout of the week

Hi Everyone,

Here is my pick for this week’s "Layout of the week". I love the white Background with the colors of Elements and Papers that are just perfect for this picture. Could anyone send just a little cloud filled with snow my way - please? One of my Favorites this week was "Snow and Fun" by  Luisa Migon.

Luisa - would you please head over to the Message Board and answer a couple of Questions? Thanks!!

See you next week smile
