IdeaBooks4u blog challenge:  Seven Random Facts

This week we’re featuring one of my favorite idea books of 2007: “We Dare You - Scrapbook Challenges about Real Life.”  For this challenge scrap a page with seven random facts:  Your favorite kid of socks.  Your child’s most overused word.  The play he starred in as a fifth grader.  Create a page of facts - make them random and make them seven.

Here’s a page created by We Dare You editor, Meghan Heath Dymock:

Heather said about the layout, “Nisa (Fiin) took this photo of Tyson and me, and I about fell over when I saw it.  It is so us.  He hates having his photo taken, but she captured him in all his beauty!  I love all the randomness we share and wanted this page to reflect our pure love and funny quirks.”  To see some more random layouts by Caroline, Emily and Wendy go to the IdeaBooks4u blog.  Another great thing about this book is that it’s on sale this week!  Be sure to put your 7 random facts layout in the IdeaBooks4u Inspiration gallery over at Designer Digitals.

Happy New Year!  Jill

Saturday Scraplift (No.41)

“Oh Perfect” is a great title for this page by Katrina
image

So sweet - and a wonderful example of how to scrap a moment even if you don’t have the photo that you really wanted! I love the richness of this, and the simple but very eye-catching design.

It certainly caught the eye of lots of us, and people were very keen to scraplift it! This is what they came up with:

Credits: layout by Maureen, Naturally Krafty paper by Katie Pertiet, Land of Lala papers and stickers by Mindy Terasawa, Fold it Up ribbon by Lynn Grieveson.

Credit: Layout by Cassie, papers from Night Magic kit by Lynn Grieveson, Glory Be brushes and stamps by Katie Pertiet, cross created with techniques explained in Laying it all out No.3

Credits: Layout by Dagmar, A Good Life (coming soon) and Sweetest Thing papers and Transparent Tweed alpha by Jesse Edwards, stitching by Katie Pertiet, hearts by Dana Zarling.

Hope you can join in and lift this great page too - and don’t forget to post in the Saturday Scraplift gallery!

So many great pages last time. Look at these:

Clip it!

Do the words “clipping mask” make you scratch your head?  We invite you to come on over to the IdeaBooks4u blog for step-by-step instructions on how to use a clipping mask taken from Scrapbooks Etc., “The Ultimate Guide to Digital Scrapbooking.”

Here’s the example we’ll be working from:

» Just My Type No. 19 «

Welcome to another “type” challenge! Hope you join in this week… I know it’s not easy because of all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season! I, myself, am soooooooo not ready for Christmas… I’ve got TONS more gifts to buy! But, I did take time to put together a fun (and quick!) challenge for you this week!

SCRIPT FONTS: I actually stumbled upon one of these fonts in my font folder… I had forgotten I downloaded it! So, I decided to find some fonts that were similar to it and see if I could use them in any way! So, my challenge to you this week is to use at least one of these fonts (or two or three!) in a layout this week!

Dirty English from dafont.com (a very pretty script, but a very grungy version!)
Selfish from dafont.com (just a tad grungy)
Liffey Script SF from fonts101.com (the clean basic one)

I like the feminine touch of the script fonts for my layout, but I really liked the grunginess of Dirty English… perfect for a soccer layout! And, yes… I know, I went against one of my “rules of thumb” to not use a script font for journaling. But, Liffey Script SF just seemd to work better than any “regular” or handwritten fonts, so I broke my own rule! Feel free to do that, too! *grin*

I hope you can find a few (!) minutes or hours to sit down and scrapbook a bit this week… I’ve given you a jumpstart by picking your fonts! Now, go find a photo or two and scrap! Don’t forget to post your layout in the “Just My Type Gallery” at DD!

And, I wish you and your families a very safe and wonderful and happy holiday!

Layout of the week 12/18/2007

Hi Everybody,
I am back with this week’s Layout of the Week. What I like about Billie Bee’s page “Are we there yet?” is the absolutely adorable picture and her fabulous color scheme. I love the bits of orange and the repeated Journaling lines she created following one of Cassie’s Tutorials. Here is the page I am talking about:

Just thinking about these two cuties in the Backseat makes me smile smile

Billie Bee - would you please head over to the Message Board and answer a couple of Questions for us?

Happy Holidays, Everyone!
