IdeaBooks4u Challenge:  The White Way to Journal

This week we’re borrowing a tip from the Designing with 2008 calendar. The challenge is to create a layout that takes advantage of the white space in your photos.  Specifically, we would like to see you create a layout where you journal directly on your photo.

Take a look at this stunning page by Merrilee:

Here’s a charming layout by Kathie:

Come on over to the IdeaBooks4u blog for more examples.  If you play along, be sure to post your layout at Designer Digitals in the IdeaBooks4u Inspiration Gallery.  See you next week!

3 Kits 3 Ways {Week 17}

Ho Ho Ho! Tis the season to be late with your 3K3W blog entry! smile At least it is still Weds. where I am. That makes me feel a bit better….LOL

So, this is the last 3K3W challenge before Christmas so I decided that a holiday theme was in order. I threw out my typical “use older product” mantra and went with some fun new Christmas products that have gone into the store in the past month or so. Here are this week’s selections:

Jolly Ho Ho Kit by Anna Aspnes

Holiday Dots No. 1 by Katie Pertiet

Sequin Photo Overlays by Pattie Knox

And here are the inspirations for this week:

Page by Stacy McFadden
This page is so lovely and poignant. I love how Stacy worked the Holiday Dot into the journal block and all the extras that she added really added to the look. In addition to the 3 kits, Stacy added Stitched Notecards, Posted Holiday Postage Stamps, Stamped Stitches No. 2, Vintage Flash Card Words - Holiday, Messy Stamped Alpha all by Katie Pertiet.

My daughter had her Christmas performance last night and they were just so stinkin’ cute! I really loved working with Anna’s new kit. I did add a few other goodies as well to the page though. Evergreen Plumes No. 1 by Anna Aspnes, Postcard Sentiments and Krafty Frames No. 2 by Katie Pertiet.

Aren’t her kids just the sweetest little things? The sequins just really add to the magic feel of this page too. And I love how she cut the papers into circles to match the Holiday Dots. Jodi stayed true to the challenge and didn’t add any additional products, but I really don’t think it needed another thing. smile

Thanks for checking out the challenge this week. If you’d like to participate, please post your pages in the 3 Kits 3 Ways Gallery. I will be back again after Christmas with a new challenge. Until then, I wish you and yours the very happiest of holidays.

Layout of the week 12/11/2007

Hello,
This week’s Layout of the Week is actually not a Layout. When I saw this Project by Sarah Horton I wished that I was part of her Christmas Party and that I would get to play with this adorable card set she made.

Mindy’s Kit is just perfect and I love how Sarah displayed this Piece of Art.Sarah - would you please head over to the Message Board and answer a couple of questions for us?

Thanks,

Saturday Scraplift (No.40)

I’m really loving the pages that Debbie has been posting in the gallery. She has such a great eye for color and detail - and I’m sure you will agree that this wonderful layout is no exception:

image

The cold blue edged in white just pops and looks wonderful with the other colors. And the subtle sanding on the photo edges is the perfect detail! So much to scraplift - the color combo, the fantastic use of Katie’s Frostbitten frames or the great layered page design with it’s subtle circle pulling everything together.

Check out these wonderful lifts inspired by Debbie’s page:
