3 Kits 3 Ways {Week 19} DESIGNER EDITION

Hello everyone! Welcome back for another 3K3W challenge. This week, I decided to mix it up a bit and get a few of our talented designers to participate in the challenge. This worked really well as our designers sometimes get too busy making great products to make great pages. So this challenge was the perfect reason to scrap! Course, I didn’t let them use any of their own product. LOL The first kit this week was actually chosen by Debi (beehive50). We were commenting on the cool new decorations on the home page and on the blog (did you notice the heart brushes up there? aren’t they cute??) and Debi made mention that she hadn’t seen one of the kits that is now featured on the home page. I decided right there and then that we were going to feature that kit. Besides, it’s bright and fun and it’s freezing and snow covered where I live and a little sunshine sounded lovely.

So without further adieu:

And here are this week’s pages from some of our fabulous designers!

Page by Pattie Knox

This page is so good. I thought I was making it tough on the designers with the combo of elements that I chose, but they all nailed it. I love the crop on this photo and the story is well worth your time. In addition to the 3 kits, Pattie used Tortuga Template No. 8 by Kellie Mize and Messy Stitching by Katie Pertiet.

Aren’t those expressions just adorable? Kellie rocked the challenge this week. She used the leather down the side of the page but blended it into the page design beautifully. I love the colors of the page with that photo just a perfect combination. Kellie stayed true to the challenge and didn’t add any additional products.

Page by Cassie Jones
Cassie used a photo of Heidi Knight’s little cutie Avery for her page. They actually got to hang out together a couple weeks ago (and the rest of the team is really jealous!) In typical Cassie style, she used a few more products than the 3 required kits (but I love that about her!) Embroidered Flowers by Jesse Edwards, Stitched up frames, Ledger Brushes-n-Stamps, Notebook Paper Pieces, Curled Notebook Paper, Defining Moments - Love, Photo Cuts Masks all by Katie Pertiet. Cassie used the Photo Cuts for the paper journal strips down the edge of the photo. They are such a versatile product!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Please feel free to join us in the challenge and post your pages in the 3 Kits 3 Ways Gallery. We’d love to see them! Special thanks to our rockin’ designers for not only producing great product and tutorials, but for also knocking this challenge out of the park.

Saturday Scraplift (No. 44)

Recently our very talented Cassie held a chat, challenging people to scrap a layout in 30 minutes or less. That evening the gallery was bursting with eye-catching layouts in black and white (the papers and elements given out in the chat). One of these was this great page by Chris:

I love her offset, yet balanced, design. The placement of the big “3” is perfectly done. And, although the photos are small, they are completely the focus of the page. It’s a wonderful design for patterned paper as well.

I love how different the layouts inspired by Chris’ great page are:

Credits: layout by Angie, Circle of Love kit by Kellie Mize, Glitter strips By Katie Pertiet.

Credits: layout by Deena, Monoblendz Cayenne and Monoblendz Aqua papers by Anna Aspnes.

Credits: layout by Terri, Blue Sonata kit and Pear Crisp kitby Mindy Terasawa, Labelled Female brush set by Anna Aspnes.

It’s a great page to lift, and if you decide to take the challenge don’t forget to post in the Saturday Scraplift gallery!.

Loved these from last week:

Add artistic appeal to a journaling block

For me, one of the hardest elements to place on my scrapbook pages tends to be the journaling block.  This week at the IdeaBooks4u blog, we’re going to learn a cool technique that will help alleviate that pesky problem.  In the book, Computer Tricks for Scrapbooking, Jessica Sprague teaches how to add artistic appeal to a journaling block as shown in this terrific layout:

It’s a great technique to learn because it really helps tie the journaling block and your photos together.  Come on over to the IdeaBooks4u blog to check out the Design Team’s take on this challenge.  Then post your layout in the IdeaBooks4u Inspiration Gallery at Designer Digitals.  I can’t wait to see your work!
