A Sweet Touch

One of the sweetest elements you can add to a layout is a scalloped frame. This week over at the IdeaBooks4u blog, we’re going to create our very own by using a technique taken from The Ultimate Guide to Digital Scrapbooking.

Here’s our inspiration page:

This darling layout was created by our very own Katie Pertiet!  In the book, Katie shows us step-by-step how to create a scalloped edge.

So the challenge this week is to create a layout with a scalloped frame or edge.  If you check out the blog you’ll see some of us on the Design Team created our own frames while other members used some great scalloped frames from the Designer Digitals store.  The choice is yours. As always, we’d love to see your take on this challenge posted in the IdeaBooks4u Inspiration Gallery.  Have fun with this one!

Saturday Scraplift (no. 47)

I love this striking page by Brenda:

Such an explosion of prettiness against that striking black background. I especially love how she used Anna’s Magic Sparkles, and Katie’s new vintage frames look great with the black in a way that stark white frames would not. The beauty of a black background is that it carries such weight itself that it can balance an assymetrical design like this.

Here is what Brenda’s page inspired:

If you decide to join in and lift Brenda’s gorgeous page, don’t forget to share it with us in the Saturday Scraplift gallery.

Loved seeing these great pages there last week:

Start with a circle . . .

This week’s IdeaBooks4u challenge is taken from the wonderful book Scrap Simple.
Here’s a gorgeous layout we’re going to be using as our inspiration that was done by author Hillary Heidelberg:

Isn’t it gorgeous?!

So, here’s the challenge:  Use a circle as a building block for your layout. Try placing your text within a circle at the center of your page and build the remainder of the elements around it. For more information and inspiration, check out the IdeaBooks4u blog.  Create your circle-based layout and join us by posting your layout in the IdeaBooks4u Inspiration Gallery at Designer Digitals.  I hope you’ll play along!
