3 Kits 3 Ways {Week 31}

Welcome back to another 3k3w! Today’s colors really say summer to me. I love royal blue anytime of the year but when mix with yellow, well that is just such a fun summer combination. If it is your first time reading this challenge, the premise is simple. We have 3 designers use 3 different kits to show how versatile the kits can me. Sometimes we recolor (but not today) and sometimes we desaturate (but not today) and sometimes we don’t mess with greatness and use the kits as they are (like today) smile

Here are today’s kits:

Frosted Alpha No. 2 by Pattie Knox

Stitched Stars by Lynn Grieveson

And here are this week’s pages:

This page was really (I mean really) inspired by THIS page by Kellie Mize. I thought it was the perfect topic for my birthday page. smile Yep, now everyone knows how old I am today. There is a paper in the kit that is 3 different stripes like this but I made my own. The rest of the page is pretty simple but I really like the sentiment.

Fresh from the CHA trade show in Chicago, Paula scrapped about her cohort in crime at the show Emily. Any scrapper would be impressed with her mad one handed photography skills. smile Paula worked the opposite ends of the color wheel for this page and it looks fabulous. In addition to the 3 kits, Paula also used Torn and Tattered Templates No. 5 by Anna Aspnes and Krafty Frames Curled-n-Flat No. 1 by Katie Pertiet

See what I mean about the color combo? Makes the perfect summer page. Nothing says summer like sparklers (and magic wands smile ) Janet stayed true to the 3 kits this week.

Well, that’s it for another 3k3w challenge. Please play along and post your pages in the 3Kits3Ways Gallery. We’d love to see your work!

That’s a (historical) fact!

Scrapbooking old family photos can be fun but it can also be daunting. You may ask yourself, “How do I get started? And once I’ve started, how do I continue?” Celebrity scrapbooker Becky Higgins answers dozens of family history questions in her comprehensive book, “Family History Scrapbooking.
image
The question we’re going to answer for this IdeaBooks4u Blog challenge is this:  “How can I find information on what happened the year my (insert relative) was born?”  The answer is simple, Google it!  Simply type in the year into the search engine and immediately you will have tons of information at your fingertips such as major world news events to who won the Academy Award for Best Actress.  Your resulting pages will not only be fun to look at but also fascinating to read.

Check out this wonderful page by Bonnie:

It not only includes an early photo of her mother alongside a birth announcement (in her grandmother’s own handwriting) but also a fun story on the origin of Fritos!

Check out the rest of our examples on the IdeaBooks4u Blog.  Have fun with this one then create your own historical page and share it with us in the IdeaBooks4u Inspiration Gallery at DD.

10 Weeks 2 Treasure - week #6

We’re past the halfway mark now! In the home stretch. And if you haven’t started already it’s not too late to join in!

This week we’re on week number six and Create-a-Book No. 6
image

And I’m thinking my Ireland book is going to be more than 20 pages and I’m going to have to step it up because I have so many photos I want to showcase!

Here’s my 6th spread and for the journaling I wanted to included I used one of the photo areas as a clipping mask to make a journal spot.

Saturday Scraplift (no. 65)

This striking page by Cindy really caught my eye in the gallery. I love its sharp design with the blocked look and the BIG title as a major design element. Great use of those stripes too.

What I love about this week’s lifts is that one follows the same graphic style of Cindy’s original page, while the other takes a more traditional and feminine approach - and they both look stunning. Check them out:
