iTunes Inspiration No. 4

This week we’re going back to big hair, fluorescent colors, and Molly Ringwald. That’s right, it’s the 80s. The band is OMD who I remember seeing in at a KROQ concert with Depeche Mode and Thomas Dolby at the Rose Bowl. It was, like, totally tubular! OMD’s album Architecture & Morality, however, has a surprisingly graphic and minimalist vibe to it:

Here is my take:

I loved Katrina’s take on it:

And this darling layout by Angie:

So give this simple design a try and be sure to post to our new iTunes Inspiration Gallery.

Best & Worst

Hi, it’s Monday and that means it’s time for another IdeaBooks4u blog challenge. I’m going back to one of our favorite idea books, “Scrapbook Shortcuts with quizzes & questions” from Simple Scrapbooks. Why is it our favorite? Because the layouts generated by these quizzes tend to be fun, insightful and ALWAYS interesting. Plus, the quizzes help jumpstart our journaling (always a good thing)!

The quiz we’re working with today is called “Best & Worst”.  Questions include:  1.  The age in life you’ve most enjoyed so far:  2.  The age in life you hated most:
3.  The best day of the week:  4.  The worst day of the week. 5.  Your finest cooking accomplishment:  6.  Your worst cooking disaster:  7.  The color that looks best on you:  8.  The color that looks worst on you:  9.  Your favorite movie of all time:  10.  The worst movie ever made:  Now those questions should help get your creative juices flowing!  Answer all 10 or simply focus on one.  Here’s a fabulous page Sarah Brown created (The age in life you’ve most enjoyed so far):

Isn’t that interesting to read and can you believe how stunning Sarah’s photo is?  This is a fun challenge this week, I hope you’ll play along.  Check out more pages on The IdeaBooks4u Blog and then post your page in The IdeaBooks4u Inspiration gallery at DD.

Have a great Monday!

Saturday Scraplift (no. 70)

I love this delicate and pretty page by NRENOUX:

The page has such a cohesive look, with its soft colors and the subtle photo treatment, so that no one element overpowers another. Love the way the flower is stitched down too!

Here’s what Bonnie, Stacy and Lynnie were inspired to create:

Template Challenge Thursday!

Running a bit behind, nearly missed my window for Template Challenge Thursday… but this week we’re spotlighting Angel Layered Template!

Amber and Stacy helped me out this week with two fabulous layouts!

Amber’s layout

I love how Amber used it as a starting point, moved some things around and modified the frame!

And Stacy’s page

Stacy laid her photo over the frame making it a single photo frame!

And here’s my page!

I sliced the frame for a single photo and just slightly moved things around and used the hue sliders to adjust the color of the title!

Grab the template now while it’s on sale on post your layout in the template challenge gallery!

3Kits 3Ways {week 33}

This is the second week that the M & M duo of Merrilee & Mollie are at the helm for the 3 Kits 3 Ways Challenge. Merrilee (aka digigrandma), was in charge of week 32, and I (aka readstoomuch) am posting this weeks spot. Thanks again Wendy, for bringing us the first 31 weeks of great challenges.

Today, Merrilee and I have are using Back to School, as our theme and have chosen three kits from the Designer Digitals Store. We have challenged three Creative Team Members to design pages using these kits. And, we would love for you to jump in with your back to school photographs and memories too!

This time of year, when the school supplies are in the stores, and children are looking for fall clothes, I think that all of us think “Back to School”. So here we go with three great kits for today’s challenge:

School’s In WordArt from Anna Aspnes

Alpha Jumble Jewel Paper Pack from MaryAnn Wise

Chunky Chipboard Black Alpha No. 01 from Katie Pertiet

And now, just look at our three fabulous challenge pages:

From Jess (jesshunt) is this cool back to school from a teacher/staff point of view. I love how Jess has used Anna’s Word Art.

image

For her page, Jess used the three kits . . . plus, Katie’s Notebook Paper Pack , Pattie’s Clip Its!, and Katie’s Little Paper Leaves Curled-n-Flat.

Kathie (kathie02) has blown me away with her awesome page of our famous Buddy going off to school with his little blue backpack!  Kathie, you forgot to put in a checkbox with an A+ for entertainment.

image

I love Kathie’s addition of Katie’s Checklist Brushes (altered), Plastic Buttons, Pattie’s Fanciful Felt Ribbons and Trims, and Staple Its!

And, how could anyone resist this cute little face (X three)!  I love Paula’s (PaulaSG) take on this challenge, and love how she used the papers on the vertical masks!

image

Paula has added Lynn’s Sidelined Paper Pack, Kellie’s Shortcuts-Photoshop Actions, and Katie’s Photo Cuts Masks No. 02 to round out this great layout.

I know that you have enjoyed these pages from Jess, Kathie, and Paula just as much as Merrilee & I have. They sure do make me want to dig out some old school photos of my children to scrap!  As a matter of fact, I have a page using our 3Kits, plus a few extras that I am finishing up to post in the gallery myself.  I dug out an old photograph of my cute mother when she was only six years old as my back to school treasure!

Well, that’s it for our 3k3w Challenge for this week! Please play along with Merrilee & me, and post your pages in the 3Kits3Ways Gallery. We’d love to see your work!
