Saturday Scraplift (No. 74)

A beatuiful layout for a beautiful girl is our inspiration this week:

image

What really sets apart this page by Ashley (aka omyjallopy) is the detailing such as the way the layered papers are slightly tilted and stitched, as well as the lovely muted color scheme. A great example too of how an expanse of “white space” can balance out a heavy cluster of photos an elements. Yet if those tiny buttons and the brushwork had not been perfectly placed in the bottom left corner the whole page would have unbalanced.

Here’s how Merrilee and Patricia were inspired by Ashley’s page:

Fresh Look #5 - Music Is Important

Yay - another Fresh Look feature smile I hope everyone has had a good week - I know I’m looking forward to a nice and relaxing evening at home! So to get the weekend started off, let’s take a look at a few CT members’ take on this page by quilter422 (Janice):

image

A very fun page - let’s see what our CT did to give it a fresh look…

Being a huge American Idol fan, I loved Sam’s take on Janice’s page. The title work is so cool and I love what she did with the photo.

Next up is Maureen (aka Mozer) - she tells me that Anna’s colorblock template really helped make this look like a CD cover - isn’t it so hip and….well….‘rockin’!!

And finally, this awesome page by Steph - I love the title and journaling around the page - love these colors together too smile

I’m always amazed every time when I see how different everyone’s pages are - very fun! Remember, we’ll continue to choose layouts for a fresh look from THIS THREAD, so keep on adding your submissions there.

Terrific Template Thursday!

It’s terrific template Thursday again! And this week we are using Pattie’s wonderful Speed Byte No 73 image

Kari used the template to showcase some adorable photos of her son begin cute with a cell phone - I just love how she used Ali’s Everyday Twill to frame the photos.

image

Mel took a different approach and used the template to showcase this lovely photo of her beautiful daughter Daisy. How sweet is this? I think the Wet Ink brushes-n-stamps Mega Pak
is my favorite detail.

image

I stayed pretty close to the original template. It was perfect layout to show my photos from the town parade we went to last Saturday. I love how Anna’s Weathered Neutrals Paperie No 04 matches the sky here!

I hope you will play along - don’t forget to post your layout in the Template Challenge Gallery

JUST MY TYPE 37

I’m another year older since the last JMT challenge, and the seasons have definitely changed now… I find it rather exciting this time of year, from a photo taking point of view who couldnt love Autumn?!
I really hope you’ll join me in this weeks challenge
See the light…use light coloured fonts only.
Because our titles and journaling are so important to us we tend to make them black, or bright. To catch our eye and make a statement.
Well, this time how about a less is more approach?  Try using white, or very very light coloured fonts instead.  Try also playing with the opacity of your titles and journaling too.
In my sample layout here I’ve used white fonts,  in sketchy fonts snowshoe and wolfsrain adding to that surreal airiness the layout has. You can see too that the white journaling doesn’t even have to be on a super dark background to show up.

I’m looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with smile dont forget to post your layouts here in the Just my Type gallery!
