Saturday Scraplift (No. 89)

I picked a perfect example of layering for this week’s Saturday Scraplift, a layout by Billie:

image

Don’t you love those bits of paper and tape tucked in there? Definitely a case of less is more. And the same goes for the use of color. Try a neutral background with just a touch of color. That striped notebook paper on the side is all the more effective this way.

I also love the way the photos descend down the page. There is something about a vertical design that looks fresh and fun. But I’m always saying “try rotating the design onto it’s side” and, when I showed this layout to Amber, Kathie and Tara, they all ended up doing just that! See what you come up, and don’t forget to post in the Saturday Scraplift gallery.

Itunes inspiration 10

Just my Type is taking a little break, - dont worry it will be back- but I am excited to be hosting the itunes challenges here for a while! SO much inspiration out there via album cover art, I cant wait to get started!
The very first time I saw this album cover I wanted to scraplift it!
image

It is very much like a scrapbooked page dont you think? I doubt this will be the only time I get my inspiration from The plainwhite T’s either, they have a real ‘graphic yet homemade’ edge to all their CD covers; if you get time check them all out!
heres my page - its an almost 100% lift!
image
here is Kari’s awesome page, I love how shes used it for Batman!
image

Sam’s turned her page black and made it leap out at you!
image

and Katrina took her page and ran with it. Creating a fabulous dream-like design…
image

Whether you want to lift it directly, as I have, or just be inspired by it in some way, like the other team members here, I cant wait to see your pages in the itunes inspiration gallery!

Ten Weeks to Treasure - Week 3

Welcome to our 3rd week of our 3rd round of Ten Weeks to Treasure!
Moving forward to create our Shutterfly Photobook with the Hugs & Kisses Series…

This week we are using Hugs & Kisses Layered Template No. 3

and I added my bits of patterned papers from the Little Princess Kit by using the Krafty Cuts Botanicals as clipping masks to have just a bit of patterned papers and not too much! So I still kept the focus on the photos. For the photos I used Dave’s Midnight Sepia Action again and adjusted the saturation and the curves on the bottom layer before merging the layers and bringing them into my layouts!

Layout details here and here

Patricia’s been playing along too creating the sweetest book about here twins!

And it’s not too late to join in! Just post your pages in the Ten Weeks to Treasure Gallery so we can follow along! smile

Saturday Scraplift (No. 88)

It’s great to be back with the first Saturday Scraplift since my big trip. It was an easy choice to go with this adorable layout by lpate:

image

Such a cute photo, and so beautifully showcased in a design which combines a linear look with the looseness and quirkiness of the painted dots to great effect. I love that number border too. It’s a lovely fresh look, and one wth lots to inspire a lift. You could even try flipping the design on its side if you wished.

Here’s what Janet, Sarah and Angie came up with:
