I’ve decided to make my itunes layouts into a Shutterfly photo book, and show a mini pic of the CD that inspired it alongside. I’ll save them all up and create it at Christmas I think
This weeks challenge is one with a graphic feel-
Heres what the team did with it this time-
Myra made this. which is AMAZINGLY cool dont you think?

You can see I also put some of the new girls on the Creative team straight to work ![]()

I had fun zooming in and cropping the photo to make a long shape, and of course making my sister star on the DD blog ![]()
So you see, even a simple and straightforward looking CD cover can inspire us all to make different pages.
I hope you’ll join in, play along and I look forward to checking out your work in the DD itunes gallery here!
Welcome to the Simply Inspired Challenge!!! Every two weeks we’ll be delving into the world of creative design inspiration! Advertisements, web design, fashion, movie posters, product packaging, home decor, book covers, billboards… they all contain a well-spring of design inspiration! Our goal is to capture that professional creativity and use it to spark our scrapbook layouts.
Every two weeks, I will post a random inspiration piece and challenge you to create a layout or project based on the selection. Feel free to pull inspiration from the design structure, a single element, a type treatment or even just the color combination. Once you complete your layout, upload it to the Simply Inspired Challenge gallery on or before May 4, 2009. Fun enough in itself, right? But there’s more! We’ll be selecting one lucky winner to receive a $10 gift certificate to the Designer Digitals store!!! Yay! So be sure to come play along for your chance to win! Here we go…
This week we’re pulling inspiration from a cool website I stumbled upon. I instantly recognized the similarities between the design and several popular trends in digital scrapbooking.
Hope this piece helps encourage your next layout! I can’t wait to see how you’re simply inspired!
Welcome to our first Heritage Challenge! Molly, Lynn, and I will be taking turns hosting challenges scrapping heritage photos every other Monday at Designer Digitals.
The word “heritage” refers to something inherited from one’s ancestors, so to find heritage photos, you only need to go back one generation. For our purposes, that means that photos from the 1970s or earlier are considered heritage photos. Yikes! My childhood is now heritage. LOL!
Our first challenge is to scrap some heritage wedding or wedding-related photos. Paula and Stacy joined me for this challenge.
Paula scrapped this beautiful layout from 1966 using shades of gray and white. The beautiful texture of the paper really draws the eye straight to the photo.
Supplies: Create a Book Posted No. 8, Alandia Collection, Wedding No. 1 Hand Drawn Brushes, Love Grows No. 2 Brushes and Stamps
Stacy scrapped a beautiful engagement photo. She also used a gray background, but set off her black and white photo with some flowers, stripes, and brighter colors.
Supplies: Spring Roll Kit, Stitched by Anna Cream No. 3, Dirty Frames Curled and Flat, Stitched Chip Strips
And, finally, another gray layout! LOL! Unbeknownst to each other, all three of us chose shades of gray for our layouts. We’d love to see your layouts with some other colors.
I chose to scrapbook several smaller photos from my parents’ wedding.
Supplies: Painterly Dots Background Papers, Baby Pink Patterns + Solids Papers, Photography Word Art, All Good Kit, Postage Frame Super Pack, Word Strip Labels, Treasured Memory Brushes and Stamps, Fasten Its
We can’t wait to see your heritage wedding photos! Post them right HERE in our new Heritage Gallery!
This week’s inspiration layout comes from Cheryl (aka nativescrapper). She has a stunning gallery of layouts, and this is no exception:
Notice how the long, thin horizontal photo set off to the side is balanced by the vertical plaemcent of the tags, which spell out so perfectly that working week It’s a great theme for a layout too, and I love how the rough, tough elements Cheryl chose echo the subject yet still combine to create a quite delicate and lovely page.
Lovely pages, too , from Myra and Kirsty who scraplifted Cheryl’s layout:
Credits: layout by Myra, Ryan paperpack and solids by Michelle Martin, Love Blossoms brushes, Matte Black vintage photo frames and Little Bits Alpha by Katie Pertiet, stitched border by Anna Aspnes (coming soon).
Credits: layout by Kirsty, tin frame by Katie Pertiet (coming soon), Stitched chip strips, Roughed Up Krafty paperpack and metal sheets also by Katie, Staple Its by Pattie Knox, chipboard tags (coming soon) and Hello Summer hand-drawn brushes by Ali Edwards, Worn Page Edges by Lynn Grieveson, 12 x 12 overlay and Light Textured Neutral Paperie by Anna Aspnes, A Beautiful Day Solids paperpack by Mindy Terasawa.
If you want to play along and come up with a layout inspired by Cheryl’s great page, share it with us in the Saturday Scraplift gallery.
