Saturday Scraplift (No. 105)

I love this interesting page by Kristin (aka krutten):

image

So much interesting detail, yet the pale, restful color combo stops it from being overwhelming. And the vertical ric-rac ribbon gives it a structure that stops the pictures and bit of paper from looking randomly piled on the page. It’s the sort of page that people looking at a scrapbook in years to come will love poring over.

You can use the design just for photos as well. Here’s what Janet, Crissy and Heidi came up with, inspired by the page:

3 Kits 3 Ways Challenge { No. 53 }

Good Wednesday!  Its Merrilee & Mollie again with the 3 Kits 3 Ways Blog Challenge.  Our bi-weekly challenge consists of 3 designers using 3 kits in 3 different ways.  Today I {Mollie aka readstoomuch} am at the helm, and next time Merrilee {digigrandma} will take charge.

I have pulled out three great Designer Digitals products from the DD shop for you to play with.  I’ll just bet that some of you have all three of these in your stash too, so come along and play with us.  We have terrific layouts from Terri and Sarah to show off the versatility of these three kits, and I am adding a page of my own as the third example layout.

Here we go with the products for this weeks challenge!  I pulled out Katie’s paper pack first of all, just because I really love these papers and have only used them once before today.  Lynn’s alpha is so very versatile that I knew many of you would already have it, and if you don’t you will want to put it on your “to buy today” list!  And, Jesse’s little tickets are so much fun and with the great assortment of colors she included you can use them over and over again in lots of ways.

Ticket Label Rub-Ons from Jesse Edwards

Now, let’s look over the “three ways” with the example layouts using the “three kits” plus a few extras from the store.

Fan Club from Terri {tdavenport}

In addition to the three challenge products, Katie’s Carded and Taped Frames is the only extra that Terri used, and just look at how clever she is with her use of Jesse’s ticket as a border rather than as a ticket!  I love how all of this worked so well together . . . I love the father & son subject of Terri’s photograph . . . and, I love Terri’s title & journaling!

Play from Sarah {shhbabymine}

Sarah created this fabulous layout with only two extras.  Ali’s Everyday Hand Drawn Brushes, and Katie’s new Postage Strip Words No. 01.  I just love how Sarah incorporated the ticket into her layout and how she used the wavy edge from the ticket as a mask for her cute photo.

Cornbread from Mollie {readstoomuch}

My layout is one about a favorite everyday family recipe.  I’m afraid that I got a bit carried away with my extras this week.  I’ve used Ali’s Layered Template No. 01 & Everyday Hand Drawn Brushes; Anna’s Dripped Stains No. 03; Lynn’s French Summer Kit, Golden Bay Kit & Worn Stars; Katie’s Curled Index Journalers & Notebook Paper Pack No. 03 in addition to the three challenge products.

I hope that you will enjoy working with these three Designer Digitals products just as much as Sarah, Terri & I did.  Remember that in creating a layout for the challenge, you can use any other DD products on your layouts that you would like to use.

Post your layout in the 3 Kits 3 Ways Gallery at Designer Digitals . . . Merrilee & I will love to see them there!

DAILY DOSE CHALLENGE (No. 11)

Hey everyone! It’s Monday and that means it’s time for a new Daily Dose challenge! Thanks to everyone who has been playing along! The Daily Dose gallery is just overflowing with inspiring layouts. You girls are amazing!

For this week’s challenge, we’re pulling inspiration from the gorgeous layout by Kayleigh Wiles on the May 29th page of the Daily Dose Calendar. How gorgeous is this layout? I just love how the monochromatic nature of the page really lets the photo and the details shine. The eye just flows effortlessly across the page! I love that! Now we want to see the magic you can create with your own monochromatic layout!

Challenge Eleven:
Create a Monochromatic Page

Monochromatic simply means “consisting of one color”. While Kayleigh’s layout is entirely yellow, she includes different shades and values of the color for a subtle but stunning page. Try creating an all purple layout, a page with ten different shades of blue, or a layout completely void of color (i.e. all white). We want you to have fun experimenting with different ways to make a monochromatic page. Once your layout is complete, upload to the Daily Dose of Digital Gallery so we can all be inspired by your creations! I asked three of our talented creative team members to take this challenge. Check out the results!

Saturday Scraplift (No. 104)

Someone with a really clean, sophisticated and eye-catching style is Neonglow, and this recent page of his is no exception:

image

He has an unerring eye for color, and I just love how in this page he uses text as a recurring design element. Also notice how the strong photo with its dramatic lighting and contrasts is balanced by the eye-catching colors of the striped paper on the far side.

I know you will have as much fun lifting this as Jill, Stacy and Kathie did (dog theme not compulsory LOL!)
