itunes inspiration 18 :)

Well, wow, we rocked that last itunes challenge Ladies dont you think? The gallery was overflowing!
I hope you’ll join in this week too.
This weeks choice, at first glance anyway, is not so ‘arty’, a little more graphic leaning this one.

image
Isnt it cool? If you look a little closer, you can see a few ‘arty’ details that you might decide to showcase in your layout. Notice how the arms are extracted and overlap each of the other photo? And see the season details behind them that might just turn into cluster brushes wink
If you need some help with extractions dont forget Cassie has several tutorials that cover them - in particular Laying it all out No.04
I cant wait to see where this one takes you!
heres where it took some of the team this week-
Terri’s page made me LOL, I love her striking colour photos on that white background-

image

Katrina’s page is clever, really clever! check out her double journaling, if you can tear your eyes away from the beautiful pictures…

image

Myra made this page her own with the stunning background photo, -hands up who want to go to the beach now?!

image

Jill told me her mojo had left town and I told her I bet it hadnt… I think I win that bet!!! Love the pictures here smile

image

And finally my page, it is, as I always am, a bit of a literal lift from the inspiration, but I do love silly face Daisy pictures smile What could be better than a whole row of them ?

Please join in and have a go, we love to see your pages! Post them at the itunes gallery here.

SIMPLY INSPIRED CONTEST (No. 9)

It’s time for another Simply Inspired Contest!!! This week we’re turning to magazine ads for our inspiration. Have you ever flipped through a magazine and been suddenly stopped in your tracks at a cool image or layout design? What is it about advertisements that make us stop and want to read more? Design professionals have just a few seconds to grab the readers’ attention and spark our interest to promote their product. The result? Some amazing and down-right creative images! What a great concept to bring into the world of scrapbooking!

Your challenge this week is to create a layout based on this magazine advertisement:

image

It’s a clean and simple design with an attention-grabbing clear concept. Try pulling inspiration from the strong vertical columns, the uncluttered design, or the concept of comparing and contrasting. We want to see the creative ways this ad inspires your next layout! Don’t forget to upload it to the Simply Inspired gallery on or before June 1, 2009 to be in the running for a $10 gift certificate to the Designer Digitals store!!!

I can’t wait to see how you are simply inspired! smile

Heritage Challenge #3

I’m the third member of the Steph, Mollie, Lynnie Heritage Challenge team and this is my first time to post a challenge to the blog. I hope it goes according to plan, I’m a little nervous!

I’ve been in the process of making an album of all the homes I’ve lived in in my life. I just seem to be having a problem getting it finished, so I chose a challenge that I hope will help me get done. This challenge is about HOMES. The word “home” brings so many wonderful words to mind: love, security, warmth, fun, family, tradition, to name a few. For the next heritage challenge, the challenge will be to scrap a home-your home, your grandparent’s home, a home you remember from your childhood or a home you’ve only heard about! Tell what that home means (or meant) to those who lived or visited there!

Here’s what three of our creative CT members came up with to give you inspiration for this challenge!

Debi chose two photos of her childhood home for her layout-one from when her family moved in in 1959 and one from today, because her parents still live there! For her wonderful layout, Debi used the following DD products:
Stitching Holes: Rounded Corner Stitching Holes brushes and stamps
Photo Mask: Rounded Corner Clipping Masks Brushes
Sticker Tape: Postage Strip Words No 01
Template: Remember This 2 Page Layered Template
Paper, Background: Muted Colors Textured Paperie No 01
Paper, Patterned: Olan paper pack
Alpha: Tatty Alphabet
Heart: Have a Heart Felt
Tree: Felt Board Friends: Tweethearts
Pin: Pin-Its
Staples: Staple Its! No 02
Brads: Fuzzy Brads

Mo found an old ad that inspired her to create this layout about her childhood home. For her charming layout, Mo used the following products:
Candles and Cake Papers by Art Warehouse
Grungy Spring by Gretchen Thomas
Ally Oop Alpha by Lynn Grieveson
Button Borders by MaryAnne Wise
Folded Ribbon Bits No. 3 by Pattie Knox
Homeage by Anna Aspnes

Linda’s layout is also about her childhood home. She has used a collection of adorable photos from her growing up years in her layout. For her heritage layout, Linda used these products:
Rounded Corner Clipping Masks Brushes
Vintage Sun Prints paper pack
Meadow Ridge kit (berry paper and staple)
Scripted Type brushes-n-stamps
Stamped Stitched Hearts brushes and stamps No 01
Crumpled Paper Flowers No 02
Moss Scape paper pack (brown dotted paper)
All Natural kit No 02 (glitter brad)
CurvyCorner Stitched Blocks No 02

I also have a few pages of my Homes Album here.

We hope to see lots of layouts of special homes in your life posted in the Heritage Gallery!

Saturday Scraplift (No. 103)

The artistry of this stunning heritage page by Joanie made it stand out for me.

image

Joanie’s brushwork takes this layout way out of the ordinary, and I love her color scheme which is perfect for a heritage page but far from dull. You might take inspiration from the strong design too. Take a look at how the whole design works to subtly draw your eye to the photo:

3 Kits 3 Ways Challenge {No. 52}

Hi, again! Thanks for visiting the DD blog!
Feast your eyes on the 3 layouts by Amy, Brittany and Laura from the Creative Team for this week’s 3Kits 3 Ways Challenge! All 3 met the challenge by creating eye catching, stunning pages. I am delighted to share them with you for your inspiration. For those of you new to this challenge, Mollie (Readstoomuch) and I (digigrandma) are a tag team. We take turns choosing the 3 products for the challenge. We invite you to try out the 3 products and create your own version for the 3kits 3 ways Gallery. You may use additional Designer Digitals products to create your layout if you wish.

Here are my 3 product picks for this week:
Jesse Edwards’ splendid Bluebells n Daffodils Paper Pack includes colors I love together. There’s plenty of variety in the papers to fit just about every theme for a scrapbook page.

Speaking of variety in a kit, the Esther Brush Kit by Anna Aspnes gives you a clock, a bird, flowers, a border strip, a circle cluster and even a calendar! I bet many of you have already discovered this popular brush set.

Katie Pertiet’s photo wraps are always a perfect finishing touch for layouts. If Photo Wraps No. 3 set isn’t already in your stash, I highly recommend you add it.
