Scraplifting inspiration from the Designer Digitals Gallery

Saturday Scraplift No. 142

Telling a story with multiple photos always makes for a layout that will be a favorite for years to come. I love this example by Missy(aka MissyBaby):

image

For the base of the layout, Missy used one of Michelle Martin’s always-useful templates, and built it up from there with some fabulous details. A quick and efficient way to jumpstart your page and still end up with a layout that is all your own. I love the little labels under the photos and the fun brushstrokes. The color combo reinforces the playful theme of the whole page, with the scalloped border a perfect touch.

Here’s how Kathleen and Steph were inspired by this fun page:

Friday Flickr Favrites! Week #8

This week we celebrate two years of collecting photos of the day in our flickr group! Together, the group has shared almost 12,000 photos! Selecting a few favorites is not easy! There are so many amazing photos, so much talent, so many parts of our lives captured.

As we get closer to spring in the United States, I’m enjoying seeing more color return to the gallery.

I loved the repetition and line created by Hezro’s photo. The angle she chose to shoot means you have a bit of curiosity about the subject before realizing they are carts.

This photo by Susiecw47 caught my eye immediately. I love the contrast of the cats’ colors, but even more, I love the posing. They could be super models. I’ll admit it, I like their names too!

Sarah(SarahDanyalle)‘s angle in this photo made it a winner for me. Rather than filling the frame with a centered barn, she chose an angle that leaves context. I love context.

Three just doesn’t seem like enough, so I’m adding this color photo by ourneckofthewoods. I love the beautiful depth of field and there is just something about the tilt of the right hand tulip that makes this photo for me. I would hang this in my bathroom ( a place of honor for photos in my house).

Thanks for sharing your photos this week. You are always welcome to join us in the flickr group, whether you are taking a photo a day or a photo a month!

I’d love to see your favorites. Please post them to the flickr favrites thread in the Photography Forum.

Don’t forget, there is still time to enter your photo in the February Photo Contest!

Take Your Pick

I’m a multi-photo kind of girl. I take quite a few pictures, and most of my layouts are multi-photo pages. So I’m always excited to see a template that gives me the opportunity to scrap pages containing several photos. Even better is a template that is versatile enough to accommodate lots of photos, a few photos and some cute patterned paper, or a single to-die-for photo. Cathy’s Layered Template No. 12 is just such a template.

Pattie (ptknox) used the template to highlight these photos of her adorable Izzy. Is that face cute or what? She filled the remaining spaces with brightly colored patterned paper that pops off the neutral background. She also created a terrific title with Cathy’s word art.

Lisa (lpate) fashioned the perfect backdrop for a single picture of her sweet nephew Asher. Love those darling little toes! She chose soft colors in keeping with her baby theme and echoes the polka dots in the picture in the paper on the right.

I’m still working through my beach pictures, so I duplicated Cathy’s template and used it for a two-page spread, reversing the design for the second page. I didn’t need a lot of space for journaling on this layout, so I used the journaling spaces for additional photos.

Cathy’s versatile template is on sale today for 30% off if you don’t already have it. I’m eager to see how you tailor it to your photos. When you’re finished, post your page in the Template Challenge Gallery. Happy scrapping!
